Since their introduction in the Korean power market in 2021, Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) have emerged as a preferred method of stable renewable energy procurement for companies. As of June 2025, 1.7 GW of renewable energy have been contracted through PPAs. The PPA system has evolved rapidly over this period, including multiple regulatory revisions in the first half of 2025. This issue brief serves as a source to track updates and highlight unresolved challenges that continue to hinder wide-scale renewable PPA uptake.
