Introduction
Solutions for Our Climate (SFOC) is seeking a Corporate Engagement Associate/ Manager within the Industry Team. SFOC is an independent policy research and advocacy group that aims to make emissions trajectories across Asia compatible with the Paris Agreement 1.5°C warming target. SFOC is led by legal, economic, financial, and environmental experts with experience in energy and climate policy. Since its founding in 2016, SFOC has led strategic campaigns on coal power phase-out, renewables, and climate finance. More recently, we have expanded our work beyond the power sector, establishing oil and gas, legal, steel, land-use, methane, and maritime transportation programs. SFOC’s effectiveness comes from its extensive digital and media communication, legal strategy, political and diplomatic network, and leadership among grassroots campaigns.
Through collaboration with domestic and foreign companies, academia, and civil society, the SFOC industry team conducts research and launches campaigns to induce structural changes toward decarbonising the industrial sectors of steel, shipping, and tackle methane emissions in the energy sector. The Corporate Engagement Associate/Manager will engage, build, and manage relationships with Korean and global corporates with the purpose of encouraging their participation in initiatives and events relevant to industrial decarbonization.
Responsibilities
Engage with local and global stakeholders working on industrial decarbonization, including corporates, policymakers, and civil society
Effectively build and manage relationships with relevant corporates, with a focus on the Korean market
Conduct background research on companies including those within the steel value chain (with a focus on steel consumer industries, such as automotive, construction, and electronics) and relevant global initiatives
Support relevant team activities, including research and events
Requirements
Passion for sustainability and interest/ understanding of industrial emissions, decarbonization, climate, environment, and energy issues
Familiarity with Korean corporate structure and business culture
Fluency in both Korean and English (both writing and speaking)
Preferred qualifications
Corporate experience and proven track record in managing relationships with both working-level and senior executives
Climate, energy, environment-related major or work/research experience
Experience working in a multilingual and multicultural environment
