Solutions for Our Climate (SFOC) is an independent policy research and advocacy group that aims to make emissions trajectories across Asia compatible with the Paris Agreement 1.5°C warming target. SFOC is led by legal, economic, financial and environmental experts with experience in energy and climate policy.
Job description
Since its founding in 2016, SFOC has led strategic campaigns on coal power phase-out, renewables, and climate finance. As we grow our work beyond the power sector, our organization will be establishing a program targeting the steel industry, one of the largest emitters of greenhouse gases in South Korea and globally.
SFOC is thus seeking an experienced leader who can pioneer its steel program. The ideal candidate has relevant experience in the steel industry and/or industry research, campaigning experience, and passion to address climate change. The Steel Program Lead would be responsible for the following:
- Oversee and contribute to research on Korea’s steel industry decarbonization opportunities and policies
- Coordinate events and messaging on Korea’s steel industry decarbonization
- Engage Korean policymakers, steel industry stakeholders, and industry customers to accelerate industry’s decarbonization
- Correspond with international steel campaigning organizations and maintain network of partners
Qualifications
- Experience in the steel or related industry
- Campaigning experience a plus
- Korean and English fluency
- Strong research and communication skills
- Background in energy or climate preferred
Salary: Negotiable based on experience
