Introduction 

Solutions for Our Climate (SFOC) is an independent policy research and advocacy group that aims to make emissions trajectories across Asia compatible with the Paris Agreement 1.5°C warming target. SFOC is led by legal, economic, financial, and environmental experts with experience in energy and climate policy.  

Since its founding in 2016, SFOC has led strategic campaigns on coal power phase-out, renewables, and climate finance. More recently, we have expanded our work beyond the power sector, establishing oil and gas, legal, steel, land-use, methane, and maritime transportation programs. SFOC’s effectiveness comes from its extensive digital and media communication, legal strategy, political and diplomatic network, and leadership among grassroots campaigns. 

Job Description 

Through collaboration with domestic and foreign companies, academia, and civil society, the SFOC industry team conducts research and launches campaigns to induce structural changes toward decarbonising the industrial sectors of steel, shipping, and tackle methane emissions in the energy sector.  

SFOC is seeking a team member within the Industry Team whose responsibilities are as follows: 

Responsibilities 

• Conduct research on measures for Industry’s greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction  
• Engage with government, industry and other stakeholders for SFOC’s goals 
• Support to campaigns to raise public awareness on GHG reduction to combat the climate crisis 

• Communicate and build solidarity with domestic and int’l climate organisations 
• Support to organize SFOC events, including seminars

Requirements  

• Fluency/strong command of Korean/English (both speaking and writing)  
• More than 2 years (and up to 10+) of work or research experience  
• Interest and understanding of GHG emissions, industrial decarbonization, climate change, environment, and energy issues 

Preferred qualifications  

• Academic degree or work experience in energy/chemical industry 
• Experience in writing policy proposals and reports/research articles  

• Advocacy experience in research institutes, think tanks and civil society  
• Self-starter
