About this event

Achieving Net-Zero in Shipping: Building and Supporting Green Shipping Corridor

We are pleased to invite you to participate in the upcoming Nation Assembly seminar “Achieving Net-Zero in Shipping: Building and Supporting Green Shipping Corridor”. This event will explore critical strategies for achieving net-zero in the shipping industry, with a focus on green shipping corridor expansion.

The global shipping sector contributes approximately 3% of total greenhouse gas emissions, and the International Maritime Organization (IMO) has set 2050 as the target for achieving net-zero. As mid-term measures are expected to take effect in 2027, South Korea faces the challenge of transitioning to a sustainable shipping industry. In response to these challenges, Representative Moon Dae-lim has proposed the "Special Act on Supporting the Establishment of Green Shipping Corridors", aiming to provide comprehensive support for developing green shipping corridors and adopting eco-friendly vessels.

This seminar aims to explore methods to support the expansion of Green Shipping Corridors, achieve net zero in the maritime sector, and enhance the competitiveness of South Korea’s maritime industry. This discussion will bring together policymakers, experts, and stakeholders to discuss innovative solutions and legislative support for green shipping corridors as an impactful tool for the crucial transition.
