Solutions for Our Climate (SFOC) is an independent policy research and advocacy group that aims to make Korea’s emissions trajectory compatible with the Paris Agreement 1.5°C warming target. SFOC is led by legal, economic, financial and environmental experts with experience in energy and climate policy.  

 

 

Job description  

SFOC engages subnational and national governments in South Korea, the Asia-Pacific region and across the globe on accelerating energy transition and raising climate ambition. We are seeking an experienced leader who can develop and maintain relations with key governments to advance our campaigns on coal phase-out, climate finance, and renewables. The ideal candidate has experience working for an embassy or government agency, excellent communication skills, and passion to address climate change. The Energy & Climate Diplomacy Lead would be responsible for the following:  

 

 

 

  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with national and subnational (provincial, local) governments, serving as a point person for energy and climate policy matters 
  • Monitor and analyse national, provincial, and local energy policy priorities and developments and identify opportunities and strategies for engagement 
  • Coordinate joint events (e.g., roundtables, webinars) and meetings on climate and energy with subnational and national governments 
  • Communicate complex energy and climate-related research and campaign initiatives in an easily understood manner to government officials  
  • Advise program directors on policy engagement opportunities and strategies to achieve policy objectives  

 

 

Qualifications 

 

  • Embassy or government agency experience preferred
  • Korean and English fluency
  • Very strong verbal and written communication skill
  • Convening and facilitation experience
  • Background in energy, climate preferred
